UV Eye Glass Lenses
The best way to protect your eyes against UV damage is by wearing UV absorbing lenses. New lens materials in lightweight plastic can provide you with the maximum protection from overexposure to Ultraviolet light. Even clear lenses can be made to provide up to 99% protection from UV light.
For those patients who also require protection from glare and light sensitivity, plastic lenses that darken are now available. These special new lenses get darker as the sun gets brighter. An anti-reflective coating can also be applied to ophthalmic lenses. This coating will increase visible light transmittance and is also cosmetically pleasing.
Transition Lenses - A great everyday lens!
Another way to help protect your eyes from UV rays is to wear transition lenses, which are eyeglass lenses that darken when exposed to UV light. Transitions are a good choice for an everday lens because they automatically protect against UV and adjust to the amount of UV.
For children's UV protective eyewear, new polycarbonate lenses combine maximum resistance to breakage, providing safety and UV protection.
When visiting one of our Boutiques in Calgary or Regina, be sure to ask about UV coatings for your eye glass lenses.
